Dallas Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis has opened up about his team's 110-107 loss against the defending champs, the Toronto Raptors, on Monday night. The 7-foot-3 power forward admitted that this was a deflating loss for the Mavs, considering the fact that they let a huge 30-point lead slip out of their hands.

“That was a painful one,” Porzingis said, via Dwain Price of Mavs.com. “Right after the game when I talked to you (media) guys I couldn’t even process it yet. It felt like the game was ours and we just let it slip.”

It was indeed pretty hard to fathom how the Mavs allowed Toronto to go all the way back from 30 points down to steal a victory that should have easily been a W for Porzingis and company. The fact that this loss came right before the Christmas break makes it even more disappointing.

Nonetheless, Porzingis added that the Holiday break was perhaps exactly what his team needed to try and get over such a miserable collapse.

“We tried to disconnect a little bit in these few days,” Porzingis said. “(We) spent (time) with our families and got away from basketball for a little bit.”

This brief break seemed to have worked well for Dallas, as they bounced back with an impressive 102-98 victory against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday evening. For his part, Porzingis was relatively quiet in that one, logging 13 points (on an inefficient 4-of-15 from the field), three 3-pointers, eight rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block in 35 minutes of play. Nevertheless, the important thing is that the Mavs were able to secure a much-needed win.
