Dallas Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis appeared to be all set to make his return to the court on Wednesday night, as the Mavs took on the Sacramento Kings. However, Dallas decide to pull him out at the very last minute, after Porzingis himself reported to the medical staff that something wasn't right.

The 7-foot-3 forward/center would then end up missing out on his team's matchup against the Blazers on Friday due to the same knee injury, which has led some to believe that there might be more to this problem than  the team has been leading on. For his part, though, Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle has said that everything seems to be okay, and that they are all hopeful that Porzingis has not suffered another setback.

Porzingis has been out since December 31, and the fact that he wasn't able to take the floor when the entire team — including coach Carlisle himself — was already adamant that he would, is concerning. Knee injuries are tricky, and given Porzingis' size, this issue might just be more problematic than initially expected.

We also need to take into consideration that the Latvian national sat out the entirety of the 2018-19 season due to an ACL tear, and while this was on his other knee, it would not be completely absurd to think that these two injuries might be somehow related.

We're all hoping this is all untrue, though, and that Porzingis is merely dealing with a minor knee issue. His next chance to suit up for the Mavs would be on Tuesday in a marquee matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.
