Dallas Mavericks second-year star Luka Doncic had himself a ball in his first full-fledged All-Star Weekend after being voted as a starter for Team LeBron in the mid-February festivities. Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle and frontcourt teammate Kristaps Porzingis were happy to see him enjoy himself as a participant of the Rising Stars Game, where he nailed a memorable half-court heave in front of draftmate Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks.

“It was pretty fitting that they were both in the vicinity of each other when it happened,” said Carlisle, according to Callie Caplan of The Dallas Morning News.

Porzingis was pleased to relax on a beach in Mexico with his brother Janus and his brother’s girlfriend, “recharging his batteries” while watching his teammate have a ball in Chicago.

“It was awesome to see him out there,” said the Mavs big. “I asked him, and he said he was pretty tired this morning, so it’s a long weekend, especially when you don’t get those days off. But I’m sure he’ll get enough rest today and tomorrow and we’ll be ready to go.”

Doncic put up eight points and four rebounds in his 18 minutes during the big dance, but he contributed 16 points, five rebounds, and a memorable banger of a shot to keep as one of his prized possessions.

Most importantly, it seems Doncic enjoyed himself being among fellow greats, seeing Cardi B in celebrity row, and taking advantage of an opportunity very few NBA players get to experience from that perspective.
