After a year of inaction, Kristaps Porzingis of the Dallas Mavericks suited up for his preseason debut, noting that he felt good and natural out there on the floor. In 19 minutes of action against the Detroit Pistons, Porzingis dropped 18 points and seven rebounds. The Mavs' 7-foot-3 forward showcased his impressive shooting ability from deep and from the perimeter, as well as his quickness which pretty much still intact despite the ACL injury he suffered over a year ago.

Per Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News, Porzingis felt comfortable back on the NBA floor:

“To be out back there on the floor felt good. It felt pretty natural. I've been already playing pick up for so long. I don't even think about it anymore.”

Porzingis' debut — even for preseason game — has been anticipated by Mavs fans ever since the team traded for him. And they were definitely pleased with his performance.

Even after being out for more than a year — 20 months to be exact — Porzingis didn't show any signs of rustiness. Still, there have been reports that the Mavs are looking to manage Porzingis' load when the season begins. This is a wise move given that Porzingis has been heralded as a unique talent, an extremely potent offensive weapon once he reaches his peak.
