Luka Doncic will be able to play the Dallas Mavericks' final regular season game against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. This is after the NBA rescinded the Mavs star's 16th technical foul of the season from Friday's contest with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Mavs playmaker would have been suspended for the crucial showdown had the technical foul stayed. Per the NBA's rule, a player is automatically suspended for one game upon reaching 16 techs in the regular season.

Luka Doncic got the tech at the end the first quarter. With the clock winding down, he attempted a halfcourt heave–during which he was clearly hit on the shoulder by Elijah Hughes. With that said, he was expecting a foul to be called, but the referees didn't blow the whistle.

After the buzzer sounded, the Mavs star approached the officials to ask what happened. It was made clear he didn't use an profanity and was merely asking for an explanation, but referee Tony Brothers gave him a tech instead. In explaining the reason behind the call, Brothers argued that the Mavs star kept complaining about what he felt like a foul.

“At the end of the quarter he took a shot and he felt he got fouled. He started to complain to each of the officials. When I was walking toward the table, he was fifteen feet in the backcourt still complaining so he got a technical for continuously complaining,” Brothers explained, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

Doncic was clearly fouled, though, and while he really needs to stop complaining a lot to the referees, what he did and how he did it certainly don't warrant a tech.

The Mavs expedited their appeal for the tech to be rescinded with the final game of the season coming up. An appeal for a tech usually takes at least two days before getting a decision, but there was just no time for that,

Now, Dallas gets their superstar against the Spurs, which would be crucial in determining their seeding for the playoffs. They still have a shot at finishing with the third seed, especially of the Golden State Warriors split their last two games,
