Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic admits it's “going to be difficult” for the Mavs to make the playoffs next season.

The Western Conference is going to be a bloodbath, especially at the top. The Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets are virtual locks to make the postseason, which leaves just two spots left for the Mavs to sneak in.

Doncic says he and his teammates are going to do whatever it takes to get the Mavs back to the playoffs despite the odds not being in their favor.

MAVS.COM: Will this be the season the Mavs qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2016?

LUKA: It’s going to be difficult. I think the West is much stronger than the East. It’s more difficult in the West, for sure. But we have to do our jobs, so we’ve got to make the playoffs.

The Mavs won 33 games last season, finishing in the 14th spot in the West. Luka Doncic won the 2019 Rookie of the Year award by averaging 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists while shooting 42.7 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from beyond the arc and 71.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The good news for Dallas is its getting Kristaps Porzingis back. Porzingis missed the entire 2018-19 season because of the ACL tear he suffered with the New York Knicks during the 2017-18 campaign.

Let's see if Doncic and Porzingis can lead the Mavs to the playoffs next season.
