Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic was not happy with the ejection of Kristaps Porzingis in the third quarter of Game 1 of the Mavs' first-round playoff showdown against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The odds were already against the Mavs when they began their postseason on Monday against the second-seeded Clippers. However, the odds further swayed their opponents' way when Porzingis was ejected after being issued his second technical foul.

The tech was called on Porzingis after he confronted Clippers forward Marcus Morris, who was getting physical with Doncic. After a few words were exchanged between Morris and Doncic, KP came to the defense of his teammate and went on a nudging battle against Morris.

The two were both issued a technical foul. Unfortunately, it was Porzingis' second one in the game, thereby automatically ejecting him from the game.

“I knew KP had my back. He did it for me, he did it for his teammate” Luka Doncic said of his Mavs running mate, per Brad Townsend of Dallas Morning News. “He had my back and not just me, but the whole team appreciates that. I don't think it was fair to take him out of the game – especially in the playoffs.”

To Doncic's defense, Porzingis was the recipient of two rather soft technical fouls, which caused him to be eliminated from his playoff debut. The first was in the second quarter when he reacted to a foul called on him on what seemed to be a 50-50 call.

It is also worth noting that KP's ejection caused a huge commotion on Twitter. He exited the game with 14 points, six rebounds and a block in 20 minutes of play.

The Mavs tried their best to compete against the Clippers, but without Kristaps Porzingis' towering presence both offensively and defensively, Dallas ultimately bowed out and lost 118-11o. Luka Doncic carried the load for Dallas and finished with a game-high 42 points to go alongside seven rebounds and nine assists, but his efforts were not enough.

Game 2 between the two Western Conference heavyweights will be on Wednesday.
