The Dallas Mavericks were part of a busy NBA trade deadline, as they dealt talented power forward Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards. Right after the trade, the Mavs made headlines when they announced a big contract extension for forward Dorian Finney-Smith, who signed a $55.5 million extension with the franchise. Mavs star Luka Doncic was asked about the extension and dished the truth on Finney-Smith after the big move, via ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

The Mavs' contract extension is a huge leap for Dorian Finney-Smith, who went from making just over $1 million per year to upwards of $15.4 million. Teammate Luka Doncic not only thinks that Finney-Smith is worth it, but he also thinks that he could deserve “even more.”

Doncic spoke about Finney-Smith's work ethic and how much he deserves this opportunity. Doncic would certainly know best, as he's in the building watching his teammate work.

While the big contract is certainly a stretch from the outsider's perspective, there is definitely some value for what Finney-Smith brings to the table, as he is a capable defender and shooter on the wing. The 28-year-old is averaging 1.2 steals and nearly two three-pointers made per game.

People can certainly question whether it was wise or not for the Mavs to give Dorian Finney-Smith a big contract extension. Teammate Luka Doncic won't be one of them.
