Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic is widely believed to be the runaway winner of this season's Rookie of the Year award. The 20-year-old Slovenian sensation has turned a lot of heads this season, playing better than some of the league's veteran guards.

Doncic is currently averaging 21.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, solidifying his case for the most prestigious award for the best newcomer in the league.

However, Doncic doesn't seem to care much about the Rookie of the Year honors. Instead he praised fellow freshman Trae Young for what he has been able to accomplish this season, per Tim Cato of The Athletic:

“I don’t keep up with where I stand (in the Rookie of the Year race). But I know (Trae Young) has been doing great. He proved a lot of doubters that he can play in the league. I’m really happy that he’s doing great things.”

Young has been impressive over the past month, scoring at will against opponents who can't seem to find any defensive scheme to stop him. He recently notched consecutive games with at least 35 points and 15 assists, which is something that only Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson was able to do before him.

Both Luka Doncic and Trae Young are primed to be two of the NBA's future superstars, and they have put the league on notice.

It's their time, and they are ready for the spotlight.
