Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis' relationship (or lack thereof) has always been the subject of controversy. It was not too long ago when a lot of people are saying their partnership on the Dallas Mavericks will not work.

Fans and the media alike have looked for evidences that show they were not on good terms–from videos of KP not celebrating Luka's game-winners or Doncic not passing the ball to an open Porzingis in more than a dozen of plays. In the end, it only convinced people that the Euro Duo was heading to Splitsville.

Or so they thought.

After a brilliant offseason highlighted by a change in coaching, it looks like the Mavs stars have developed a closer bond. As for their relationship, Doncic claimed he has been in good terms with Porzingis all along and that the issues about their alleged rift were simply created by the media and blown out of proportions.

“I think that’s more [what the] media did to us,” Doncic said on his relationship with Porzingis, via Dallas Morning News. “Not us. Just the media saw it like that. I don’t know. We’re good.”

While it's hard to blame the media alone for making a big deal out of the Luka Doncic-Kristaps Porzingis partnership–especially with the visible frustration of the Latvian star during the past season–it's certainly a good thing that the Mavs are finally moving on and seem to be heading in the right direction.

If Luka and KP can utilize each other's strengths and unleash their full potential, the Mavs can be a deadly team. Everyone saw a sneak peek of that in preseason when Dallas went 4-0, and hopefully, they can keep the momentum going when the games that matter begin.
