Apparently, Gregg Popovich is a big fan of Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic. Following the Mavs' win over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, Pop had nothing but compliments for Doncic.

“A quintessential basketball player,” the Spus coach said of the young Mavs pheom, per Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News. “He has an intrinsic feel for the game. He was built for this game. Also, he probably would be a great team handball player.

While Gregg Popovich raved about Luka Doncic's basketball acumen, he also shared how talented the Slovenian is as a 6-foot-7 point guard.

“But at that size, to have that passing ability, that vision of the court, the confidence he plays with, he shoots the ball well, he competes. He just loves the game of basketball. His skills are top-notch, so he’s just a joy to watch,” Pop furthered.

During the Mavs' win over the Spurs, Doncic compiled 36 points and 11 assists. He was also one rebound shy from recording a triple-double, which would have been his 31st career triple-double. The 21-year-old superstar also made four of his 12 three-point attempts, showing off his range from outside the arc.

Coming into the NBA as a proven professional overseas, Doncic had lofty expectations placed on him. In just his third season in the league, it's safe to say that Luka has exceeded those expectations—and then some.

Popovich has been able to coach long enough to witness plenty of legendary players grace the basketball court, so when he speaks highly of Doncic, it's hard not to believe that the potential of the Mavs star is limitless.
