The Dallas Mavericks had a big first-half lead on Friday night in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors, but they went totally cold in the final two quarters and now sit in a 0-2 hole. Luka Doncic went off for 42 points while Jalen Brunson dropped 32, however, it wasn't enough for the Mavs.

One topic of conversation after the contest was the lack of timeouts Mavs head coach Jason Kidd called. Doncic was asked about just that and gave the perfect response to why Kidd made the decision to let his team try and figure things out on the fly against the Dubs.

Via House of Highlights:

“He (Jason Kidd) is the coach, he's the boss. So whatever he says is good. Sometimes he's going to take a timeout, sometimes not. When you play away, I think he's going to take more timeouts than at home. He's the boss. We listen to him.”

The Mavs star makes a good point. When Golden State is firing on all cylinders at home, it's hard to stop their rhythm, even when you use a timeout. The energy is all behind them no matter what.

Dallas disappeared in the second half, getting outscored 68-45. While Steph Curry couldn't miss a shot, there were also far too many easy looks at the basket in the fourth quarter in particular. Now, the Mavs will be hoping to get back into this series at home on Sunday.
