Dallas Mavericks swingman Luka Doncic wouldn't rule out a return to Spain at some point in his future in an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca. The former Real Madrid star is hoping he can return to the city later in his career to pave the way for others, as the team once did for him (via TalkBasket).

“I would like to return to Madrid when I will be 38 or 39 years old and work with young players,” Doncic said.

Doncic is still only 19 years old and is another lifetime away from a return to Madrid.

The Slovenian will likely be the continuation of what has been a great experience for the Mavericks drafting internationals, as legend Dirk Nowitzki will pass the torch to Doncic as the international ambassador of this franchise and the NBA as a whole. Dirk is the highest-scoring NBA player to come from overseas.

Doncic could learn a lot from Nowitzki in the latter's 21st and last season in the league, which would break Kobe Bryant's record for the most with a single team.

The 19-year-old already possesses a dynamic tool set, having achieved more in his short European career than most prospects coming from overseas. If he can reap the most from an experienced veteran like Nowitzki and be willing to learn the ropes of the NBA game, it would be a lesson to carry on for the future, when he finally makes his return to Madrid with much more to teach.
