Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic was bloodied up on Saturday as the Mavs took on the defending champs, the Los Angeles Lakers. Doncic had some blood flowing out of his elbow, but as it turns out, it looks like Luka's okay.
There was some concern surrounding Doncic's injury at the break:

According to reports, however, Luka's problem does not appear to be anything serious (h/t Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News):
ABC broadcast says Luka's elbow issue was because a scab (from last game) re-opened under his arm sleeve.
So, that's good news for the Mavs after a half that was very light on positive developments.

With Kristaps Porzingis also out of action, the last thing the Mavs need right now is another injury, especially to their superstar. The fact that initial reports seem to indicate that there appears to be no cause for concern here is certainly a welcome development.
Dallas is currently in the midst of an all-out race in the Western Conference. The Mavs have won their past two games (including a victory against the Lakers on Thursday) and have now climbed to the sixth spot in the West. It's the Lakers who are ahead of them in the standings by two and a half games, so another win here would close the gap on the champs.
To be clear, however, a playoffs berth is anything but guaranteed for the Mavs at this point. The San Antonio Spurs are all the way at tenth place, but they are just three games behind Dallas. The next few weeks are going to be the most important stretch in the Mavs' regular season campaign so they will need Luka to be at his very best (and healthy, of course).
