Dallas Mavericks stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis have been in their respective homelands during the three-month hiatus brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. But according to Mavs owner Mark Cuban, the two stars are expected to arrive back in Dallas “in the next few days.”

Cuban shared the news to Marc Stein of the New York Times. The reporter also noted that Porzingis posted an Instagram story where the Latvian gave updates about his own Mavs timetable.

The Mavs are one of the 22 teams set to return to action on July 31 — the tentative date set by the league. The 22 teams will play eight regular-season games to determine their seeding.

The Mavs currently sport a 40-27 record for seventh in the ultra-competitive Western Conference. As such, both Porzingis and Doncic need to dig down deep if they want to make the playoffs for the first time in their young careers.

The three-month hiatus could even be tagged as a blessing in disguise for the Mavs. Since prior to the suspension of the 2019-20 season, Doncic had been nursing several injuries which caused him to miss games. And even while he was playing, the Slovenian sensation was not at his best.

Qualifying for the postseason is going to be big for the Mavs squad. Since this is a good indication that not only does the roster have potential, but the dynamic duo of Doncic and Porzingis can get it done. As they have mentioned time and time again in previous interviews, the duo will only get better the more games the play. Dipping their toes into the postseason will surely boost their chemistry.
