Apart from being a total gem on and off the court, Dallas Mavericks center Boban Marjanovic is a pretty good writer, too. The affable Serbian giant recently showed his skill with the pen, describing why Mavs teammate Luka Doncic deserves to land on TIME Magazine's “Next 100” list.

Here's what Boban wrote about the young Mavericks superstar:

“You can’t relax on the court with Luka Doncic. Even if you’re not open, he can make Luka magic at any moment—throwing a perfect pass that somehow lands in your hands. Every game, he debuts a new move. It’s crazy.

He’s just 21, but he has already made an all-NBA First Team and is set to earn many more honors. I see his competitive drive off court: even playing Parcheesi, he wants to win. But he always wins while smiling.

I see the influence he carries. Before the pandemic, kids would crowd arenas and team hotels, hoping to see him. And he always made time to sign autographs, to share that Luka magic with the world.”

It's evident that Boban Marjanovic and Luka Doncic have developed a playful relationship with one another. While the 7-foot-4 center has only played in 15 games for the Mavs this season, he's had plenty of opportunities to see the Slovenian guard's transcendent talent and the effect he has on his many admirers.

TIME's prestigious list, meanwhile, highlights 100 emerging leaders who are shaping the future in their respective fields. This edition showcases how these members are coping with the pandemic crisis. The Mavs star is indeed the present and the future of the NBA, at least, in Boban's eyes.

For what it's worth, Luka and the Mavs are in the midst of a tough 2020-21 season. The team is competing for a spot in the playoffs, with Dallas 13-15 on the season for 10th in the West standings. Hopefully, Luka can also work his magic once again with the team this campaign.
