Dallas Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic suffered a scary injury on Friday night in Game 3 against the Los Angeles Clippers, and now his status for the ever-crucial fourth game has been revealed.

According to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, Doncic, with a sustained left ankle sprain, is “questionable” for Game 4 against Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and the Clippers.

Doncic, 21, has been the integral piece of the Mavs all season long, as the first-time All-Star generates the most efficient offense in the NBA. In his first-ever NBA playoffs look, the former Slovenian prodigy has averaged 27.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game through three appearances in round one. He's shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from 3-point land.

In Game 3 against the Clippers, their second loss of the postseason, the Mavs star fell to the ground towards the end of the third quarter, grabbing his left ankle. Doncic went back and forth from the court to the locker room twice—and concern grew after the second time he left the hardwood without returning.

Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle posited some good news last night about Doncic's ankle injury, calling it his “good one,” via Mavs.com's Dwain Price.

“One of the good things is that it’s the good ankle. It’s not the one that he sprained a few times in the last couple of years. We’ll know more tomorrow. He did come back and try it, obviously, and he wasn’t moving great,” Rick Carlisle said.

Luka Doncic is very much the engine that runs the Mavs, so his health for the playoffs and beyond will be the foremost priority of the franchise.
