Dallas Mavericks rookie sensation Luka Doncic almost had to carry on playing with one shoe on Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as some fans appeared ready to take home the 19-year-old’s shoe, which somehow made its way to the front row.

Fortunately, a kind-hearted individual had the decency to return Doncic’s missing shoe, but only after someone else had literally tried it on first.

That’s definitely not something you see everyday. The fans involved appeared to be more interested in having some fun with the relic than giving it back to Doncic so that he could carry on with the ballgame.

Despite the weird moment, though, Doncic still had another solid outing in this one, logging 27 points (on 11-of-21 shooting), two three-pointers, 12 rebounds, six assists, and a block in 32 minutes of action. Mavs big man Dwight Powell also had a night to remember, as he put up 25 points (on a highly-efficient 8-of-9 from the floor), eight rebounds, two steals, and a block.

All these were in vain, though, as the Wolves still came out on top, 110-108, behind the heroics of Karl-Anthony Towns (28 points, 13 rebounds) and Andrew Wiggins (19 points, seven assists).

Luka Doncic and the Mavs have four more games remaining this season. They will be facing the Memphis Grizzlies twice, on Friday and on Sunday, prior to closing out the season with a back-to-back set against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday and the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.
