There have been people struggling amid the severe winter weather that has occurred in the South recently. In response to the shocking weather that has taken place, Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks are trying to do their part in helping those in need.

Mark Cuban, who is known to be a charitable person as the owner of the Mavericks, has teamed up to donate $1.25 million to the Dallas Mayor's Disaster Relief Fund. Besides Doncic, Maxi Kleber, Dwight Powell, and Tim Hardaway Jr. have all contributed toward the cause as well.

While speaking about the situation at hand, Powell shared why he decided to give back to the people who are struggling right now in the Dallas area.

“There are so many of our fellow Dallasites without food, water and shelter during this devastating winter storm, and we would be remiss if we did not help in some way,” Powell said in a statement by the office of Mayor Eric Johnson. “I hope that our contributions will give relief to those struggling during this time.”

In the past week, people in Dallas and other areas in the South experienced severe winter weather, causing them to lose power. At the same time, food and other necessities have been a struggle for some as they've lost their homes or their jobs have been negatively affected.

Athletes across the sports world have been doing their part in helping those in need. And with the Mavericks being a team who's had to endure the weather themselves, they are doing what they can to help those who aren't as fortunate.
