Dallas Mavericks rookie sensation Luka Doncic and forward Maxi Kleber are expected to miss the team's game against the LA Clippers at Staples Center on Monday.

Luka Doncic, the front-runner to win this year's Rookie of the Year award, has missed the Mavs' last two games because of a sore right ankle. He's listed as day-to-day with no timetable for return.

Maxi Kleber, a third-year veteran, has also missed the last two games for the Mavs due to an illness that was not disclosed by the team. He is not expected to miss a significant amount of time though, and could be back as early as next couple of days.

In 55 games this year, Doncic is averaging 20.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists. He's also shooting 43.0 percent from the field.

Kleber, on the other hand, is putting up 6.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game for Dallas.

The Mavs currently have a 26-33 record, and with 23 games left, could make one final push to make it to the postseason. Their chances are slim, but with the way the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings are playing, a winning streak could see them pose a real threat to the Clippers for the eighth and final spot in the West.

However, they can also opt to just focus next season, when Kristaps Porzingis is expected to return.
