Luka Doncic may be an outstanding player for the Dallas Mavericks nowadays, but the Mavs rising star spent most of his developing years perfecting his game in Spain.

This is why it's understandable when the Slovenian Wonder Boy couldn't help but feel elated when the Spaniards made the FIBA World Cup Finals. It was an intense double-overtime affair between Spain and Czech Republic that saw the final score balloon to 95-88 by the end of the game.

Toronto Raptors center Marc Gasol led the way with 33 points on 11-for-19 shooting. Phoenix Suns guard Ricky Rubio was equally outstanding with his 19 points, seven rebounds and 12 assists.

The moment Spain booked their place to the final, Doncic couldn't help but reach for his phone and tweet his celebration:

As it was meant for the Spanish national team, he didn't bother translating. However, his message to Spanish hoops fans was incredibly sweet:

“[I'll] tell you something! Nobody had Spain! And they have achieved it! I am not Spanish but they have done what very few believed! It is amazing and I feel very proud to play with some of them! They have taught character! Congratulations!”

Doncic signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid in 2012 at 13 years old, developing his game there with seasoned veterans of Spain and sharpening his craftiness that many Mavs fans now enjoy.

Spain is now set to play Argentina in the final, and we all know where Doncic is putting his money on. With no Team USA to defend the crown, we will see a new champion be crowned.
