The Dallas Mavericks are the last underdog standing in the 2022 NBA playoffs. While every other team who made the conference finals had some legitimate expectations to be there, the Mavs defeated the team that many saw as the best in the NBA. Luka Doncic and company are looking for another upset.

While Doncic's individual brilliance is breathtaking, the Mavs are putting a lot of help around him. Spencer Dinwiddie is among the most helpful henchmen for Doncic, along with Jalen Brunson, Maxi Kleber, Reggie Bullock and Dorian Finney-Smith. Doncic explained to Marc Spears of Andscape how Dinwiddie is so beneficial.

“He is amazing with the ball,” Mavericks All-Star Luka Dončić said. “He can do a lot of things. He’s a baller. That’s the best way to describe him. We’re glad to have him.”

Although Dinwiddie has been inconsistent in this year's NBA playoffs, the Mavs have been tough to beat when he gets going. After being a cast-off from a struggling Washington Wizards team, he is now a key player on one of the best teams in the league. Dinwiddie spoke to Spears about the confidence that the Mavs are showing and the mindset they have against the Golden State Warriors.

“This is the Western Conference finals. This is what you dream of. We didn’t put a ceiling on our head when we entered the playoffs. We’re not going to do that now. I don’t think anyone picked us to win this series. I don’t know what they’re going to say about the next one…We believe and want to win another series.”

The Mavs and Warriors begin their chase for the NBA Finals tonight.
