Over the weekend, both the Dallas Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki and Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade were added to this year's All-Star Game roster pool as part of the league's attempt at honoring the heralded duo. The gesture certainly caught the eye of Mavs owner Mark Cuban who was quite pleased with the league's decision.

“I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it,” said Cuban, via Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “When [NBA Commissioner] Adam Silver called me and said what they were doing, it really made me feel good.”

This year's festivities will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina with NBA All-Star Weekend officially kicking off on Friday, February 15th. The All-Star nod is one of three ways the NBA is trying to send off the 21-year veteran into possible retirement with the German also scheduled to participate in the 3-point Shootout as well as coaching Team World.

“Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade embody the best of the NBA: remarkable skill, drive and professionalism as well as a deep devotion to strengthening their communities and growing the game around the world,” said the aforementioned Silver upon formally announcing the news.  “As a global celebration of basketball, our All-Star Game is an ideal setting to salute these first-class NBA champions and Finals MVPs.”

The Mavs have become the talk of the town as of late. Most notably, Dallas recently acquired former New York Knicks big man Kristaps Porzingis — in addition to the trio of Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee, and Trey Burke.
