Dirk Nowitzki and Mark Cuban are two names that go hand in hand, and both have played a huge part in the years of success the Dallas Mavericks have enjoyed throughout the last decade and a half, and even though it's a given that Dirk will end his career with the Mavericks, that doesn't mean other teams haven't tried to call about the availability of the German star.

In an exclusive interview with Yaron Weitzman of Bleacher Report Nowitzki and Cuban opened up about the two's success together. With the recent struggles of the Mavericks, Mark Cuban was asked if other teams have called about the availability of Nowitzki.

“Of course,” Cuban wrote. “We laugh.”

Dirk Nowitzki has a no-trade clause, and he has already said he will be retiring with the Mavericks, so when Dirk decides to hang it up, that's when his career with the Mavericks will be over, not before that.

Nowitzki has been a star in the NBA, and although he has lost a step in the last couple of year,s, he is still a serviceable veteran that has given the Mavericks good minutes this year. So far this year he is averaging 25.1 minutes and putting up 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.

For when Dirk will retire, that still seems to be up for debate. He has already retired from the German national team, and he could retire from the Mavericks as soon as after this season. Whenever he does decide to hang up the shoes one thing is for sure, he will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
