Dallas Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis struggled to produce and stay healthy through his first two seasons with the team, which had many believing the Mavs could potentially trade the Latvian.

However, Mark Cuban recently spoke on that matter amid Porzingis's tremendous start to the 2021/22 campaign and quickly set the record straight. Via NBA.com:

“That’s not true. Why would I do that at all?” the Mavs owner said. “Trades like that, you always end up further behind. When you trade a superstar, you never get the best end of it.”

Well, there it is. The Mavs never had any plans on shipping Porzingis out of town. Cuban even expressed that he's playing at an “All-Star level” right now and to be frank, Cuban isn't wrong.

The Unicorn is finally living up to expectations alongside Luka Doncic, averaging 20.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per night. While those numbers are similar to last season, Porzingis is shooting the ball more efficiently from the field and showing a lot better chemistry with Luka, which is something that evidently needed work after back-to-back first-round exits.

That bond between the two superstars is absolutely detrimental to the Mavs' success and with a new coach in charge in Jason Kidd, that could've helped Porzingis and Doncic really build more comradery. Dallas is currently 9-7, which is fifth in the heavily competitive Western Conference.
