After a recent tornado in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, local billionaires Mark Cuban and Jerry Jones contributed $1 million donations to Dallas ISD to help repair damages to the football field at Thomas Jefferson High School.

The donation that Cuban made to help the school district deal with the recent damages came after he was already planning to donate $100,000, according to LaVendrick Smith of The Dallas Morning News.

The donation comes days after Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said he’d donate $100,000 to help Dallas ISD schools impacted by the storms. In a tweet Saturday afternoon, the Mavericks owner indicated he would match Jones’ donation.

Cuban confirmed to The Dallas Morning News that he’s donating $1 million to Dallas ISD for the district to use at its discretion.

The Dallas ISD Superintendent, Michael Hinojosa, expressed gratitude for the donations made by the Mavs and Cowboys owners. He stated that it will help the children to feel as if they are able to be in what is closer to a regular routine.

“It’s just a way to get them back in some kind of routine and see that people really love them,” Hinojosa said. “This is something the kids will never forget. They’ll never forget Sunday night, when their school was gone. But they’ll also never forget Saturday morning, a week later, because of the Cowboys and the Jones family and what they’ve done to help lift their spirits.”

Both the Cowboys and Mavs are known to do great worth throughout the Dallas community and this is just the latest example of their care for the people of the local area.
