During a tough 130-98 blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, Dallas Mavericks (Mavs) big man Kristaps Porzingis couldn't contain his emotions after turning the ball over and was ejected. With just under nine minutes left in the game and his team trailing by 26 points, Porzingis fumbled a pass into out of bounds, retrieved the ball on a bounce, and then proceeded to kick it as if he were Lionel Messi on the pitch.

As you can see, Porzingis was going to easily flush the ball for two points if he was able to secure the pass; but, just like the Mavericks lost their chance to gain ground on the Warriors in the conference, Porzingis lost his cool and probably a good chunk of change out of his pockets as well. As funny as it may have been to see the seven-footer attempt to “bend it like Beckham”, it was equally as dangerous for all of the NBA fans, players, referees, and media members that could have possibly been hit by the ball after Porzingis kicked it.

While everyone certainly knows the risks when showing up to a basketball game, getting hit by a kicked ball is not one of them. That is not an act that is common to the game, meaning that legally, Porzongis and the Mavs would most likely be held liable for any potential injuries that occurred as a result of the kick. Alas, no one was hurt and we can all look back on the incident with a laugh.
