The Dallas Mavericks apparently didn't learn their lesson about proper bench decorum. Now, the NBA has slapped the team with a bigger fine.

To recall, the Mavs received a $25,000 fine for their bench tomfoolery in Game 2 of the series against the Phoenix Suns. They were standing too far away from their seats for the most part of the contest, with some even “encroaching upon the playing court.” It was a violation of the league's policy regarding bench decorum, hence the punishment.

Unfortunately for the Mavs, they repeated the same mistake in Game 7. As a result, the league hit them with a $50,000 fine.

Here's the NBA's full statement on the punishment for Dallas:

The Dallas Mavericks organization has been fined $50,000 for violating league rules regarding team bench decorum, it was announced today by Byron Spruell, President, League Operations.

The amount of Dallas' fine also reflects prior infractions of team bench decorum rules in the 2022 NBA playoffs. On multiple occasions, several players and a member of the coaching staff stood for an extended period in the Mavericks' team bench area, stood away from the team bench, and were on or encroaching upon the playing court during game action in the Mavericks' 123-90 victory over the Phoenix Suns in Game 7 of their conference semifinal playoff series May 15 at Footprint Center.

For what it's worth, after their first fine, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd called out the NBA for focusing on the wrong things. He sees nothing wrong from teammates cheering each other, even highlighting that it's rare to see millionaires showing love to other millionaires.

Besides, given the intensity of the playoffs and importance of the games, it's hard not to cheer for the team and try to rally them.

Dallas did survive against Phoenix to reach the Western Conference Finals, and by the looks of it, they won't be stopping from cheering despite its consequences.
