Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic once again proved that he has made it to the upper echelon of superstars in the NBA, becoming the only player to record a 35-point triple-double in less than 25 minutes.

Retired NBA player Quentin Richardson is just one of many pundits who are starting to see how the 20-year-old Mavs rising star could become the face of the league in the coming years.

In an appearance on Yahoo Sports’ “The Bounce” on Wednesday, Q-Rich was asked if Doncic is already a top 3 MVP candidate this season.

“Yes. Luke Skywalker is fastly becoming… he's not my favorite right now he's in a bunch but he's definitely in the top. Look at his numbers, man. The most triple-doubles in the league, fourth in points, tenth in rebounds, second in assists. Yes, he's an MVP top 3 candidate,” Richardson shared.

It might be too soon to tell, but Doncic is certainly looking more and more like LeBron James’ heir apparent to the throne of becoming the league’s poster boy.

A day after James became the first player to record a triple-double against all 30 NBA teams, Doncic made a record of his own by joining NBA royalty Oscar Robertson as the youngest player with back-to-back 35-point triple-doubles.

Doncic has already been racking up multiple triple-doubles in just 14 games, and he will likely break more records before this season ends.

With averages of 29.5 points, 10.7, rebounds, 9.3 steals and 1.2 steals, he is on pace to average a triple-double this season — a feat that only Russell Westbrook was able to achieve in the last three years.
