Whether they admit it or not, most, if not all NBA players have some sort of superstition they believe in. As it turns out, even coaches fall under the same mysterious spell. Case in point is Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle.

The Mavs coach recently opened up about the hotel his team has been assigned to during the upcoming NBA bubble in Florida, and Carlisle seems to think that this is some sort of clandestine appointment.

That's actually an amazing coincidence, and we can't fault Rick Carlisle from thinking that there had to be some sort of luck involved here. Then again, Carlisle said nothing about destiny and all that, but the mere fact that he mentioned it is a clear implication of at least some belief from the Mavs' top shot-caller.

The Mavs entered the season hiatus with a 40-27 record, which is good for the seventh seed in a ruthless Western Conference. They are seven games ahead of the eighth-placed Memphis Grizzlies, so odds are, their place in the playoffs is pretty secure at this point. It is worth noting, however, that just four games separate the Mavs from the third-seeded Denver Nuggets, so it is clear that the remaining few games of the regular season will be crucial in terms of playoff positioning.

As he mentioned above, Carlisle is now on his 12th years as the Mavs head coach. He's hoping for many more years to come with him at the helm, and in terms of job security, it's safe to say Carlisle's seat is pretty cold at the moment.
