Dallas Mavs guard Luka Doncic has already established himself as a great basketball player in Europe. Now, though, the 19-year-old Slovenian will be looking to make waves in the NBA, and his former teammate at Real Madrid, Sergio Llull, thinks the league is in trouble.

“It will go well. He’s a very intelligent player who reads the game very well. With the spaces they have on the court, he’s going to make them all dizzy,” Real Madrid star Sergio Llull said on Doncic, per Marca.

The Atlanta Hawks selected Doncic with the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft. He was later traded to the Mavs for the draft rights to Trae Young.

“Luka Doncic was the guy we targeted to get in this draft if there was any way possible to do it,” Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle told USA Today in June. “At one point, we thought there might be a slight chance he could fall to us, but a couple of days ago it was pretty clear that there was no way that was going to happen. He’s just too good. We get a guy we think is franchise foundation piece.”

Carlisle's confidence in Doncic is evident, and fans in Dallas are excited to watch him grow.

Doncic had a solid showing in Friday's preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets. In 31 minutes of action, he posted 18 points with four rebounds, four assists, three steals and four 3-pointers.

In 61 games of EuroLeague play last season, Doncic racked up averages of 14.5 points on 45.6 percent shooting from the field (30.9 percent from beyond the arc), 5.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.1 steals in 25.0 minutes per outing.

Doncic and the Mavs will kick off the 2019 regular season with a match-up against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night. Tip-off inside Talking Stick Arena Resort is set for 10:30 p.m. EST with ESPN having live broadcast coverage.
