Dallas Mavericks guard Seth Curry says Mavs power forward Kristaps Porzingis is already one of the best players in the league and people have forgotten that since Porzingis missed the entire 2018-19 season recovering from his ACL tear.
Porzingis will make his Mavs debut next season and Dallas can't wait to see KP play alongside Luka Doncic, who won the 2019 Rookie of the Year award.
Seth Curry, who signed with the Mavs this summer in free agency after playing with the Portland Trail Blazers last season, believes Dallas has the right group of guys to make a playoff run in 2019-20:
“I like our team,” Curry told ESPN Dallas 103.3. “We’re confident in what we have and it’s just putting the right pieces around Luka and KP. “We have a lot of options going forward as far as how to make our team better.
“We have KP, who hasn’t played in a couple of years so you kind of forget about him, but he’s as good as it gets when it comes to pickups this offseason. He's young and he’s already one of the best in the league.”
The last time we saw Kristaps Porzingis play, he was averaging 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks with the New York Knicks while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from beyond the arc. The new Mavs star has career averages of 17.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
The Mavs gave Porzingis a five-year, $158.25 million deal this summer. For Dallas to make the postseason next year, it will need Porzingis and Doncic to play at an All-Star level every night.
