Seth Curry is back in Dallas for his second stint with the Mavericks, and he is excited for how head coach Rick Carlisle will utilize him this time around:

“Rick Carlisle is a good coach. It's as simple as that,” Curry said on ESPN Dallas 103.3. “He puts his players in good positions to succeed offensively and defensively. He likes guards that can do multiple things out there — playing multiple guards at the same time. I played some of my best basketball when I was there a couple of years ago so I'm excited to rejoin the team and help get them back to the playoffs …. I wanted to get back to playing with guys like Luka (Doncic) and (Kristaps Porzingis). Unselfish guys. Luka's one of the best passers in the league right now. … I'm excited about the opportunity.”

The Mavericks agreed to sign Curry to a four-year, $32 million contract at the start of free agency.

Curry's first go-around in Dallas came during the 2016-17 campaign, when he played in 70 games and averaged 12.8 points, 2.7 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals over 29 minutes per game while shooting 48.1 percent from the floor, 42.5 percent from three-point range and 85 percent from the free-throw line.

He was then out of the NBA for a year before joining the Portland Trail Blazers this past season, when he appeared in 74 contests and registered 7.9 points across 18.9 minutes a night while making 45.6 percent of his field-goal attempts, 45 percent of his long-distance tries and 84.6 percent of his foul shots.

Curry, who played his collegiate basketball at Duke, went undrafted, but has also spent time with the Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings.
