It's been quite the week within the Dallas Mavericks organization. First, they parted ways with Donnie Nelson, who was the GM for 24 years. Then on Thursday, Rick Carlisle has decided to step away from the Mavs. It's believed that Luka Doncic wasn't happy with some of the decisions Carlisle made throughout the season, but nevertheless, a new coach will now be hired.

It was also reported by ESPN's Tim McMahon that Luka's agent, Bill Duffy, has had a rocky relationship with the Mavs for many years, with the exception of Nelson, who has now been let go.

“Where Donnie was really important, just in terms of the Luka dynamic,” said MacMahon on the Lowe Post podcast. “Not just the relationship with Luka but the relationship he had with Bill Duffy, Luka's agent.”

“The Mavericks, well before Luka Doncic… they have burned some bridges with Duffy. Bill Duffy was Steve Nash's agent. Mark Cuban had a multi-thousand blog post blasting Bill Duffy after Steve Nash's departure to the Suns way back when.”

“Bill Duffy represented Darren Collison. Represents Rajon Rondo. Those guys had disastrous, brief, messy, contentious stints playing for Rick Carlisle.”

Well, that doesn't sound good. Doncic is set to ink a supermax this offseason but it doesn't really help when your agent is butting heads with the organization.

While Luka Doncic is clearly on another level than guys like Rajon Rondo and Darren Collison, Duffy doesn't get along with anyone left in the Mavs front office it seems.

There isn't really any sign of the Slovenian wanting to leave Dallas, but this can't be a good sign. After all, Duffy is only concerned with Luka Doncic's happiness and if his client doesn't get the help he needs in order to take this team to new heights, they could both be looking elsewhere.
