The Mavs will be without the services of Wesley Matthews for Monday night's matchup against the Chicago Bulls, according to a report from K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

Matthews, now 32 years of age, is dealing with a left hamstring strain. He was originally listed as “doubtful” for Monday's game. However, he did not travel with the team to Chicago, which means he is now out.

Matthews is an important piece of the rotation, to be sure. In fact, he was playing 33 minutes per game. He could miss additional time due to his injury, but Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle is hoping the San Antonio native will be able to return for Wednesday's home game against the Utah Jazz.

In his 12 appearances with Dallas this season, Matthews has racked up averages of 16.8 points on 42.1 percent shooting from the field (37.9 percent from beyond the arc), 2.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and just under one steal (0.8).

With Matthews ruled out, coach Carlisle will have to adjust his lineup a bit. J.J. Barea and Devin Harris could see action in a dual point guard set. Dorian Finney-Smith could also see an uptick in minutes.

Monday night's Mavs-Bulls game is scheduled to tip inside the United Center at 8:00 p.m. ET. Dallas, who is currently 4-8 overall, will be looking to steal a victory in The Windy City. Chicago (4-9), on the other hand, will be looking for its first back-to-back victories of the season.
