The Dallas Mavericks are preparing for an NBA Playoff series against the Phoenix Suns after securing a series win over the Utah Jazz. One player who was key to the Mavs' victory was guard Jalen Brunson, whose elite-level play was a much-needed boost to a team that was without star Luka Doncic for the first two games of the series. Brunson, who will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, will likely be coveted by other NBA teams, especially after this playoff performance. NBA reporter Marc Stein revealed the Mavs' confidence level in re-signing the 25-year-old.

Behind the scenes, though, team officials are expressing clear confidence that they will re-sign Jalen Brunson in the offseason. Detroit and Indiana are two teams with considerable cap space known to have interest in signing Brunson this summer. New York's interest has also been well-chronicled, even though the Knicks will have to make some moves to create sufficient financial flexibility to compete with the offers Brunson is expected to command that could exceed $80 million over four seasons.

With the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers tabbed as two teams who could be interested in Brunson, there is the chance that the Mavs could lose out on the Villanova product during the NBA's free agency period.

However, Dallas officials, per Stein, have “clear confidence” that they'll get a deal done. Brunson's camp, led by his father, are pushing the franchise to “show” how much they love Brunson this offseason.

Given his strong performance in the first round of the NBA Playoffs and the organization's confidence level in re-signing Brunson, there's no reason to not expect him to return to Dallas this offseason.
