The Mavs reportedly have no interest in trading for New York Knicks point guard Frank Ntilikina, according to Mike Fisher of 247sports.

The Knicks are reportedly looking for a late first or early second round pick for Ntilikina, who has been a bust in the NBA.

Because the Dallas Mavericks were interested in Ntilikina in the 2017 NBA Draft before he was picked at No. 8 (the Mavs were happy about that, as it left them Dennis Smith Jr. at No. 9), we inquired about whether the Mavs would like to take another swing at Ntilikina.

And the answer is “no.”

The Mavs have Luka Doncic running the show at the point guard spot. The Mavs should look to sign a quality backup point guard in free agency.

The Knicks took Ntilikina with the eighth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He averaged 5.9 points and 3.2 assists during his rookie season and put up 5.7 points this season. The Mavs have the No. 37th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Dallas went 33-49 this season. The franchise is building the team around Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, who will play next season after missing all of this season recovering from an ACL tear.
