The Dallas Mavericks are coming off yet another disappointing season where they fell well short of reaching the playoffs for the second straight year. However, the front office has positioned the organization to be a huge factor in free agency with a plethora of salary cap space.

There will be several marquee players available in the open market that could step in to make a tremendous impact with any franchise let alone the Mavericks. With that in mind, veteran forward Jared Dudley has voiced via Twitter when asked about the future of All-Star big men DeMarcus Cousins and DeAndre Jordan he stated that he believes one of them will sign with the Mavericks.

Dallas has a need to add more firepower in the frontcourt to bring in another highly talented player to help push forward their core group with an aging Dirk Nowitzki. DeAndre Jordan has previously been pursued by the Mavs in free agency a few summers ago that saw him agree to sign with the team as a restricted free agent before changing his mind to stay with the L.A. Clippers. It also helps that he has ties to the state of Texas having grown up there in Houston and going to college at Texas A&M.

Meanwhile, DeMarcus Cousins is expected to have a simmered down market after tearing his Achilles tendon back in January. It has left a level of uncertainty in terms of what kind of player he will be after the injury. The Mavericks could be one of the teams that are willing to take the chance to offer him a lucrative deal in hopes he can recapture his All-Star form that made him one of the elite talents at his position in the league.

More than anything else, this further underlines that Dallas could be one of the most active teams looking to add star power in free agency next month.
