Right now, it feels like Kyrie Irving is being linked to every other team in the NBA. It sounds like the Dallas Mavericks are joining in on the fun.

According to a report by Ric Bucher of FOX Sports, a potential partnership between Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in Dallas has emerged as a possibility. The Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Clippers are currently considered the frontrunners to land Kyrie if his extension talks with the Brooklyn Nets completely break down. However, an unnamed Eastern Conference general manager has floated the idea of Irving taking his talents to Dallas.

The reports suggest that Irving's relationship with Nets head coach Steve Nash isn't in the best of places right now. Kyrie, apparently, holds Mavs coach Jason Kidd in high regard because “Kidd has a championship to his credit — as does Irving — while Nash does not.”

It is also worth noting that Irving supposedly has a “strong relationship” with Mavs GM Nico Harrison, who Kyrie worked with during the latter's time as the vice president for Nike.

Perhaps most importantly, though, is that the anonymous source believes that Irving would be a perfect fit alongside Luka:

“With Luka, Kyrie doesn’t have to be your best player,” the rival GM said. “He doesn’t have to lead. But they do need a second scorer, and he can do that.”

This actually makes sense. The pieces seem to fit, and apparently, the Mavs could be a legitimate landing spot for Kyrie Irving this summer.
