Retired Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki has a few baseball games in his schedule – namely the 2019 Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game and throwing the first pitch for the Texas Rangers game – and his pitching form definitely could use a little work.

Nowitzki was practicing some baseball pitches and the Mavs' official Twitter account (via NBA on ESPN's Twitter account) recorded Nowitzki flubbing one of his pitches badly on June 5.

After Wednesday night's Rangers game, up next is the Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game. DallasNews.com uploaded a sample program of the event last April.

He's an NBA champ, MVP, and the longest-running NBA player to spend his 21-season career with one team. Known as Swish 41, he's the sixth all-time NBA scorer and North Texas' most treasured hometown hero. What's not to love about Dirk Nowitzki?

For the 18th year (and marking Dirk's eighth year), two baseball teams – each made up of celebrity and amateur players – will slug it out for seven innings of hilarious (and often mediocre) baseball!

Proceeds will benefit The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation and the Heroes Foundation.

According to The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation's official website, Nowitzki wants “to help provide education, health, and well-being for these children and to make a difference in their lives.”

On the other hand, HeroesBaseball's official Twitter account lists Dez Bryant, Mark Cuban, Michael Finley, Devin Harris, Rafael Palmeiro, Dak Prescott, Jaylon Smith, Herschel Walker, DeMarcus Ware, J.J. Barea, Jalen Brunson, Ezekiel Elliott, and Shawn Marion as some of the prominent celebrities participating on Friday.

Nowitzki will play baseball for a charitable cause. While his pitching form needs a bit of improvement, his passion to help children has never wavered. Let's wish him the best of luck in his upcoming 2019 Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game.
