Despite being 39 years old now, Dallas Mavericks big man Dirk Nowitzki is continuing to play competitively putting his retirement thoughts in doubt. This season, the 20th of his stellar career, the Mavs icon is still more than just a serviceable big man, delivering solid numbers even with the least playing time since his rookie season.

On Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets, Nowitzki once again proved that he can still score even from beyond the arc, proving to everyone why he is widely considered as one of the best players to ever play the game of basketball.

During the second quarter, the German international received a pass and did not hesitate to shoot the ball even from way downtown — which many have coined as “Stephen Curry range” because of the Golden State Warriors star's knack for long and cold daggers.

What's even more surprising is that Nowitzki attempted the shot with still 22 seconds left on the shot clock.

Many are crediting Nowitzki for changing how the modern big man in the NBA should play. While they're mostly known for operating inside the paint and scoring on shots near the basket, the former MVP showed to the world how a big man with a reliable outside shot makes things more difficult for opponents.

Nowitzki may have knocked down the impressive shot, but it was not enough to lead the Mavs to the victory on the night, as they lost 114-106. The former 13-time All-Star did have a solid outing, finishing with 13 points and seven rebounds, with Dennis Smith Jr. leading their charge with 21 points, two rebounds, and five assists.
