The Dallas Mavericks were battling the Denver Nuggets at home when news broke out that the NBA is suspending games indefinitely because of a confirmed case of coronavirus, prompting Mavs owner Mark Cuban to jump out of his seat after seeing it on his phone.

The Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder matchup were canceled early and fans evacuated after All-Star center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the virus. The league shortly announced that the season will be in hiatus as they scramble to contain the virus and determining their next steps.

Several teams have already taken the initiative in response to the outbreak with the Mavs among teams mostly limiting locker room access to media personnel and advising fans that have compromised health to skip watching live. Some have also taken extreme measures by outright playing to an empty arena such as the Golden State Warriors.
