The Las Vegas Summer League has kicked off as NBA teams search for players to join their roster and players fight for their careers. Among them, some big names have made their way to Vegas, including LiAngelo Ball. However, one lesser name is Janis Timma, who suddenly went viral at the Summer League.

The 29-year-old rookie is playing for the Orlando Magic Summer League squad and went viral after his debut. So, who is Janis Timma?

Get To Know Janis Timma

In short, Timma is another international athlete trying to find his niche in the NBA. Timma was drafted with the 60th pick– also known as Mr. Irrelevant– in the 2013 NBA Draft and was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies.

But, in June of 2015, his draft rights were traded to the Orlando Magic as part of the Luke Ridnour deal.

Timma spent years overseas and has been playing at the pro level since 2011 when he was a Liepajas Lauvas. He then made stops in the Baltic League, Latvian League and was even named the VTB United League Slam Dunk champion a few years back.

His international accolades are rather impressive, but he never got an opportunity to highlight his skills in the  NBA–until now, that is.

Timma made his debut in the Summer League and ended with 11 points, six boards, two blocks, and a steal.

Timma was also a member of the Latvian National Team, just adding his long list of achievements overseas. However, every player's goal is to crack the NBA, and Timma is doing whatever it takes for him to snag a spot on the Magic's roster.

With Orlando full of young talent, Timma would be one of the older players on the roster– despite being a rookie.

If Janis Timma doesn't make the roster, then at the very least people will know of his name due to him going viral on the world wide web. Summer League is still going, and let's all keep an eye on Timma's performance and see if he can stick around and earn a spot–or a two-way deal– with the Magic.
