Call of Duty Warzone's Season 1 brings with it Warzone's first new map: Rebirth Island. Compared to the tried-and-tested Verdansk, Rebirth Island will give players a more frantic, intense, and fast-paced Battle Royale experience.

WHAT IS REBIRTH ISLAND?

Rebirth Island is a brand-new map introduced in Call of Duty Warzone Season 1. It's a smaller, denser map compared to Verdansk. Matches in the new map will take you to a 40-man battle royale, considerably less than the usual 150-200. Hence, matches in the new map are also expected to be faster-paced and more intense.

For Call of Duty veterans, they'll be familiar with this location. The mission “Rebirth” from Call of Duty: Black Ops featured this very same island. As a little background, the Soviets formed a secret bioweapons facility here in the late 1940's. Don't think too much about its nature, as it doesn't really affect the game.

The new map also comes with its own Gulag mode, just like Verdansk. The Gulag at Rebirth Island will be located in a hidden arena under the Prison Block.

REBIRTH ISLAND SEASONAL EVENT

The new map will be the center of attention in the on-going seasonal event. Season 1 kicks off with a Resurgence mode for the new map, allowing players to experience a less competitive game mode. You will respawn every thirty seconds in the Safe Zone until the final circle, and the last squad standing will win. Eliminating enemies will give players a sense of where the rest of the remaining enemy squads are.

Meanwhile, the Gulag for Rebirth Island will be disabled for the duration of this seasonal event.

CHANGES IN VERDANSK

Apart from having a new map, Warzone's Season 1 will also have some slight changes. Its Gulag received a major overhaul, sporting a new look but a more claustrophobic design. Prepare to see a familiar location in this Nuketown-inspired Gulag.

Aside from these new maps, Season 1 also brings with it two new zombie modes, 31 new weapons, three new operators and their respective missions, most of which are unlockable through the game's Battle Pass system. All of these are live now, so be sure to check out the full patch notes before heading into battle.
