Memphis Tigers coach Penny Hardaway is not known to be a very loud guy. Even during his playing years in the NBA, he was always a silent worker. He was so reserved, Nike had to create the popular Lil' Penny character in Hardaway's commercials to complement his personality.

So it was quite surprising that Hardaway went on a furious rant during his postgame press conference on Thursday night after they lost to the SMU Mustangs. The NBA legend was asked if he can get the job done at Memphis, his alma mater, and he couldn't help but fire back (via WMC Action's Cassie Carlson).

“I think the one thing that I can say to the media because the media gets kind of f***** up sometimes when it comes to me. We don't have our full roster, y'all know we don't have our full roster. Stop asking me stupid f****** questions about if I feel like I can do something. If I had my roster like they did, then I feel like I can do whatever I want to do. I'm coaching really hard, the boys are playing really hard. I'm not embarrassed about nothing.”

Memphis dropped to 6-6, including 3-5 in conference play, after losing to SMU, 70-62. Due to their depleted roster, Hardaway also pointed out that four of his five starters are freshmen, including star recruit Emoni Bates. The high-flying guard, however, was limited to just six points against SMU.

Hardaway, who helped lead the Orlando Magic to the 1995 NBA Finals and a two-time All-NBA First Team member, was named coach of Memphis in 2018 and has tallied a 72-37 record.
