The New York Mets' impressive offseason has continued with a bang. According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, they're finalizing a three-year, $130 million deal with three-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer:

This is a massive addition for the Mets, who lock up one of the best arms in the game for what will likely be the last few seasons of his career. Scherzer was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the deadline in July and helped them to advance all the way to the NLCS, where they ultimately lost to the Atlanta Braves.

The veteran right-hander was absolutely lights out during his time in Southern California, compiling a 1.98 ERA in 11 regular season starts while going 7-0. The Mets have already brought in numerous key pieces across the last few days on the offensive side of the ball, inking superstar Starling Marte to a multi-year contract while also signing Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canha.

It was well-known New York was planning to prioritize pitching and had its eyes on numerous big arms, including Kevin Gausman and Robbie Ray. But in the end, the Mets will have the electrifying Max Scherzer pitching at Citi Field next season. With Jacob deGrom and Carlos Carrasco coming back from injury, this rotation should look scary. Marcus Stroman could still be retained as well, despite the recent drama surrounding him.
