New York Mets president Sandy Alderson believes pitcher Trevor Bauer “would be a great personality in New York.”
Bauer, who is a free agent, responded to Alderson's quote on Twitter with a rather sarcastic tweet.

Trevor Bauer went 5-4 for the Cincinnati Reds in 2020. He led the MLB with a 1.73 ERA and had two complete games.
Bauer recorded 100 strikeouts and only walked 17 batters. That is production the Mets would love to get in their pitching rotation.
The Mets went just 26-34 in 2020. New owner Steven Cohen is motivated to bring a championship to the franchise and adding Bauer could be a move he explores.
Cohen, who spoke to the Mets media on Tuesday, said he's going to be disappointed if New York doesn't win a World Series “in the next three to five years.”
“If I don't win a World Series in the next three to five years,” Cohen said, via ESPN. “I would consider that slightly disappointing. Are we going to act like drunken sailors in the marketplace? No. I want to be thoughtful. You can spend a lot of money today and then tie up your team in bad contracts for the next five years.”
Alderson returns to the franchise after a few years on hiatus. He will succeed agent-turned-executive Brodie Van Wagenen in charge of baseball operations—but with the go-ahead to spend much more on free agents for the Mets than the past regime, the Wilpon family.
It's going to be fascinating to see if Cohen and his group can turn the Mets into winners again. As for Bauer, expect him to be a hot commodity on the free agent market.
