The Miami Heat are still trying to be active on the free-agent market. While the top names have their old or new homes, solid NBA talent is still there for the taking. One such talent is Ian Clark. Clark is a shooting guard with a nice three-point stroke. He did not play much behind the star-studded backcourt in Golden State, but has shown flashes of brilliance in his last season.

Even though he had a career year, Clark is still without a team. Reportedly, he is seeking $8 million per year, and teams are clearly not willing to give him that. Most teams do not even have that in cap space, so Clark can probably hope for a mid-level exception offer from some team.

That team might as well be Miami. Clark had previously played for Miami in the 2013 summer league, after going undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft. According to Barry Jackson from the Miami Herald, there is interest from Miami's side. However, the main issue is money.

Clark seeks around $3.7 million more than the mid-level exception the Heat can offer. That exception can also be used in January and February, when players might be bought out by their teams.

Clark averaged 6.8 points. 1.2 assists, 1.6 rebounds per game last season, all career-highs. Before his stint in Golden State, he played for the Utah Jazz and the Denver Nuggets.
