Michael Jordan has been retired for nearly two decades, but that clearly hasn't erased his competitive spirit. The Chicago Bulls legend participated in a fishing competition with a massive $3.4 million prize pool.

Michael Jordan's boat, called “Catch 23”, was able to reel in a huge catch that landed their group among the leaders of the dolphin category of the contest. The dolphinfish, which varies from the commonly known dolphin mammal, weighed in at a solid 25 pounds, as reported by Insider. Photo below from Grace Bell Photography.

The 2021 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament held in North Carolina drew over 250 boats competing for the coveted cash prize. While the sum might not be worth much to billionaire Michael Jordan, you just know the air of competitive spirit was enough motivation for him.

Unfortunately for Michael Jordan and his crew, their catch was identified to be of the wrong species and eventually released back into the water. Their luck certainly turned afterwards, with Catch 23 failing to recreate the success they had earlier in the contest.

While Michael Jordan may not be at his athletic peak any longer, less strenuous sports such as fishing certainly allows him an outlet to maintain his edge.
