Chicago Bulls icon Michael Jordan enjoyed several prestigious victories over the course of his career in the NBA. The North Carolina native won six championships with Chicago and left a lasting legacy along the way. However, let's take a look back at his last playoff defeat — a loss to Shaquille O'Neal and the upstart Orlando Magic in the 1995 Eastern Conference Semifinals.

The Bulls finished the '94-95 season with a 47-35 overall record, earning a No. 5 seed in the East. Chicago struggled through the first half of that season, going 23-25 before the All-Star break. However, Jordan announced that he would be coming out of retirement and rejoined the team. As a result, the Bulls went on to win 24 of their last 34 games.

Jordan, who had been out of the NBA for 18 months, sent out a simple message via Sports Illustrated, saying: “I'm back.” There was no social media in those days, but his return was certainly a viral-like event. In his first game back, His Airness chose to wear the No. 45.

The Magic, on the other hand, had a great story to tell as well. Orlando finished the '94-95 campaign with an impressive 57-25 overall record, which earned the team a No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Simply put, Orlando's roster was talented. It featured O'Neal, Anfernee Hardaway, Nick Anderson and Horace Grant, who came over from the Bulls before the start of the season. Be it by fate or by skill, this Magic team went on to defeat Jordan's Bulls in the Semifinal round by a count of four games to two.

After their victory over the Bulls in the Semifinal round, the Magic went on to defeat the Indiana Pacers in seven games, claiming their first three playoff series wins in franchise history. Ultimately, though, Orlando was defeated by Hakeem Olajuwon and the Rockets in the Finals, marking Houston's second consecutive NBA title.

Jordan, a ferocious competitor, was angry with the way the season came to an end. He wasn't ready to lie down, though. Instead, he was driven and motivated:

“My biggest challenge is to get this team back to where it was,” Jordan said after losing to the Magic, via The Orlando Sentinel.

The next season, Jordan led the Bulls to an incredible 72-10 record, then on to the Finals, where they defeated the Seattle SuperSonics in six games. Jordan actually got his revenge on the Magic along the way, as he and the Bulls swept Orlando in the Eastern Conference Finals. Notably, it was Shaq's last appearance in an Orlando uniform.

“It drove him crazy,” Magic guard Nick Anderson said of Jordan, via The Orlando Sentinel. “He did not forget.”

Jordan's name is synonymous with greatness. He's the ultimate winner, but this is clearly a loss that he'll never forget.
